Many programs add themselves to the list of programs started when you start up your computer. Most of them you don't really need and in most cases they make your computer start up and run slower. Luckily there's a easy way to fix this, and take back control of your computer. It ́s called msconfig.exe
What is MSConfig?
MSConfig is a
system utility from Microsoft that can disable or re-enable software,
device drivers and Windows services that run at startup. MSConfig is
bundled with all versions of Microsoft Windows (except Windows 95 and
2000) when using the program you should remember that some programs,
such as anti-virus and firewall software, should start up automatically.
However, for most other programs, it ́s just a wastes resources and
will extends the startup time.
Step 1 » Click Start and type “msconfig.exe” (without the quotes) in the Search box. When you see “msconfig.exe,” click on it or press Enter.
Step 2 » In the program, clicks the Startup
Tab. A list of all the startup programs displays with a check box next
to each one. To prevent a program from starting up with Windows, just
uncheck the mark for the program. (So there is NO check mark in the
box.)
Step 3 » After you have disable all the programs you don ́t need to start up automatically, Click OK.
Step 4 » A dialog box displays saying that you may need to restart your computer for the changes to take affect. Click Restart to restart your computer immediately.
